Malta Food Event in December

Festivaldelgusto are very pleased to be working on an exciting new event in Malta this December held together with MCA , the Mediterranean Culinary Academy and several Slow Food groups from Italy and other Mediterranean countries. We have been planning to hold an organic and sustainable food event in Valletta the capital of Malta since the Slow Food Mediterranean conference in Valletta last October. The event will mainly be aimed toward promoting small artisan producers from around the Mediterranean region as well as representatives from many of the countries taking part. During the day there will be a series of workshops, talks and pop up street food stands as well as a dedicated kitchen where chefs can prepare dishes which are typical of their home countries. It is hoped that the event can be held outside in the streets close to the beautiful Hastings Gardens, but if this is not possible because of the weather in December then it will be relocated to an indoor venue in another part...

The Gaia Foundation Malta

On a recent trip to Malta we finally managed to visit the Gaia Foundation  and meet some of the inspirational people who are part of this exciting environmental project set up in 1994.  They are a non profit and non Governmental organisation and belongs to the Global Ecovillage Network, is a member of the Worldwatch Institute and part of the world wide Gaia Movement. The Foundation is based in the Elysium coastal site which is located in the Gwajn Tuffieha  area of the Maltese islands and also very close to the very popular Golden bay which makes up part of this beautiful coastline. While visiting the Foundation we visited the nearby olive groves, where there are olive trees of Carolea, Frantoio, Cipressino, Leccino and some lesser know varieties of Maltese olive. We hope to be able to arrange tastings in both London and Norwich later in the year of this very rare and special extra virgin olive oil. Durante il nostro ultimo viaggio a Malta siamo finalmente riusciti a v...

Festivaldelgusto in Marche, Italia

We are very pleased that the Festivaldelgusto at the Castello di Monterado in Le Marche this coming September has proved so popular with both the local Marchgiani producers and also with our many overseas guests this year. We now have our maximum of fourteen local artisan producers and unfortunately we have had to turn down some fantastic local producers as we are fully booked for space, but next year we are planning that we will be able to have up to twenty five artisan producers at this prestigious event in Le Marche. This year the Festival organisers had the choice of several excellent venues where they could hold the event but it was decided to hold it again in the Ancona province of Le Marche, and we were pleased that with the help and encouragement of the owner of the Castello di Monterado that we were able to base this years Festival at this beautiful historic castle in the village of Monterado near the Adriatic resort of Senigallia. The Marche producers have also proved very ...

Olive oils schools in the Mediterranean

Festivaldelgusto along with their partner  Olivaverde  are always interested in promoting small food, wine and olive oil producers from the Mediterranean region and are pleased that in 2014 we are launching a series of dedicated olive oil schools in Italy and the Islands of Malta and Gozo. The "schools" will include workshops where there will be an olive oil producer teaching clients about all the stages of  the cultivation and production of fine extra, from the harvesting of the olives right through to the bottling and marketing of the oils. Other classes will include talks and demonstrations by actual olive oil producers and tasting experts where our clients will learn the techniques of tasting olive oils from different regions of Italy and also from the Island of Malta. Clients will also visit the olive groves and mills where the olive oils we feature are produced to see how the different olive oils are made, where possible all the olive oils used and promoted in our...

We are also in the early stages of planning several festival events in Italy next year, one will be held in Le Marche and possibly two others in the Italian regions of Puglia and also Sicily, these will be in addition to our planned event in Malta next May. At one of our UK events we will be helping the owners of a popular restaurant with a large market and food fair near the Norfolk town of Swaffham, this will be held on Saturday 19th April over the Easter holiday period. The event will be on land near the main restaurant building which is located near the main road from Thetford and London to the North Norfolk coast which is a popular route with many travelling from London for holidays in Norfolk. Festivaldelgusto events

We at Festivaldelgusto were very pleased with our first festival in Le Marche last month and we do hope to hold another in that particular region of Italy at the same time next year. We will now be looking to attract a much larger audience for our chosen producers and suppliers and it is hoped that all the producers who took part in our popular Festival this year will also be available to take part in 2014. Our friends and contacts in Le Marche helped make our first Italian festival a great success and we hope that all who took part found the event a very useful business opportunity, we also know that several of the producers have gained orders from some of the trade buyers who were present. We are now looking at opportunities to hold similar Festivals  in other regions of central and southern Italy and have been approached by several business contacts both in Umbria, Tuscany and more recently Puglia. The beautiful Italian region of Puglia is one of the most attractive and intere...
