Festivaldelgusto September 2014

This year the Festivaldelgusto was again held in the Le Marche region of eastern Italy, this time at the historic venue of the Castello de Monterado near the beautiful Adriatic resort of Senigallia. We were determined to build on the success of the first Festival in Italy in 2013 so this year we decided to hold the event at the Castello as we knew this beautiful venue well and were also encouraged and supported by the enthusiasm of the owner Orlando Rodano to hold our event there. The Castello di Monterado is a perfect place to hold events and is a stunning venue situated in the small village of Monterado which was founded in 1267, it is about 15 km from the Adriatic coast and the beautiful seaside resort town of Senigallia. The weather in Italy this year has not been very good with storms, a great deal of rain and high winds on and off over the spring and summer, indeed only a few days before the event there were very high winds and storms on the coast which had done a lot of damage...

Festivaldelgusto in Marche, Italia

We are very pleased that the Festivaldelgusto at the Castello di Monterado in Le Marche this coming September has proved so popular with both the local Marchgiani producers and also with our many overseas guests this year. We now have our maximum of fourteen local artisan producers and unfortunately we have had to turn down some fantastic local producers as we are fully booked for space, but next year we are planning that we will be able to have up to twenty five artisan producers at this prestigious event in Le Marche. This year the Festival organisers had the choice of several excellent venues where they could hold the event but it was decided to hold it again in the Ancona province of Le Marche, and we were pleased that with the help and encouragement of the owner of the Castello di Monterado that we were able to base this years Festival at this beautiful historic castle in the village of Monterado near the Adriatic resort of Senigallia. The Marche producers have also proved very ...

The plans for the second Festivaldelgusto that is being held in Senigallia, Italy this September and also the planned Festival in Malta in co operation with  Malta Sunripe  are well advanced and we are pleased that as well as these two exciting events we are now working closely with  Olivaverde  and Slow Food in England to hold several small promotional events in London and the south east of England this summer and autumn. The UK based events will take place at venues mainly located in London but we hope to also hold one promotional event at the famous and iconic Forum  building in the city of Norwich in East Anglia. We recently visited the exciting new venue,  Maida Hill Place   in west London and we will now be holding two tasting and promotional events at this great new arts and food centre on 21st August, one to be held on a lunchtime and another slightly larger event in the early evening later that same month. Maida Hill Place was originally a ...

Festivaldelgusto and the Castello di Monterado

We are very pleased to be holding this years Festivaldelgusto at the Castello di Monterado in the Marche region of Italy, and we are now planning for other food and wine events and also tours to be held at this beautiful venue in the future. The Castello di Monterado is an absolutely stunning venue situated in the small village of Monterado in central Marche which was founded in 1267, it is about 15 km from the Adriatic coast and the beautiful seaside resort town of Senigallia. The present building dates back to the early 1700's and was designed by architect Luigi Vanvitelli, but is close to an ancient church which was part of a Hermitage which dates from the year one thousand. It has a long and varied history belonging to many noble families over the centuries and was badly damaged in the second World war by bombing, but the present family have undertaken a long and detailed restoration of the main Castello building. Siamo molto lieti di poter organizzare il Festivaldelgusto d...

Olive oils schools in the Mediterranean

Festivaldelgusto along with their partner  Olivaverde  are always interested in promoting small food, wine and olive oil producers from the Mediterranean region and are pleased that in 2014 we are launching a series of dedicated olive oil schools in Italy and the Islands of Malta and Gozo. The "schools" will include workshops where there will be an olive oil producer teaching clients about all the stages of  the cultivation and production of fine extra, from the harvesting of the olives right through to the bottling and marketing of the oils. Other classes will include talks and demonstrations by actual olive oil producers and tasting experts where our clients will learn the techniques of tasting olive oils from different regions of Italy and also from the Island of Malta. Clients will also visit the olive groves and mills where the olive oils we feature are produced to see how the different olive oils are made, where possible all the olive oils used and promoted in our...

Festivaldelgusto events

We at Festivaldelgusto were very pleased with our first festival in Le Marche last month and we do hope to hold another in that particular region of Italy at the same time next year. We will now be looking to attract a much larger audience for our chosen producers and suppliers and it is hoped that all the producers who took part in our popular Festival this year will also be available to take part in 2014. Our friends and contacts in Le Marche helped make our first Italian festival a great success and we hope that all who took part found the event a very useful business opportunity, we also know that several of the producers have gained orders from some of the trade buyers who were present. We are now looking at opportunities to hold similar Festivals  in other regions of central and southern Italy and have been approached by several business contacts both in Umbria, Tuscany and more recently Puglia. The beautiful Italian region of Puglia is one of the most attractive and intere...

Festivaldelgusto evening in Senigallia

We held our first Festivaldelgusto  in the Marche region of eastern Italy last Saturday evening and were really pleased that this "taster" event proved so popular both with the invited local producers and also the guests. The setting for the festival was the country house hotel and agriturismo, the Locanda Strada della Marina near the village of Scapezzano close to the Adriatic coast and the resort of Senigallia and the weather proved perfect for this prestigious outside event. Many months of planning had gone into arranging the event and much of the work had been carried out by Silvia Venturini and Andrea Tomassetti in order to bring together a wide range of local Marchigiani producers of wines, olive oils and other specialist foods such as honeys, chocolate, jams and liquers and artisan breads. We were also very grateful to Stefania of the Locanda Strada della Marina for allowing us to hold our first festival at such a lovely venue and in such beautiful surroundings in t...

Slow Food supporters of Festivaldelgusto

As well the many small producers and food related businesses taking part in the first Festivaldelgusto  we are also pleased to have the support of other interested groups and organisations including two very proactive and well known Slow Food groups from the UK,  Slow Food Norwich  and  Slow Food London Slow Food London currently is the only campaigning Slow Food body in the UK and actively responds to every European and national consultation on food and agriculture. Slow Food Norwich also campaigns for good local foods and much of its time is spent in promoting small local producers and also retailers in north Norfolk but it is hoped that a much larger area to include much of East Anglia will be covered by this very proactive group in 2014. Slow Food London has recently embarked on a series of new initiatives with a busy schedule of events, talks and projects in and around the London area, these include a new accreditation scheme for outstanding food businesses, a...
