Holkham Hall and Estate food festival

Holkham Hall Estate is a beautiful stately home owned by the Coke Family, Lord and Lady Leicester and is set in over 23,000 acres of land near the north Norfolk coast and has over 300 staff, a large organic farm with numerous residential properties and also the world famous Holkham Beach  which has featured in many well known films over the past few years. Slow Food Anglia part of Slow food International approached us at Festivaldelgusto last year to ask if we were able to help with the organisation and logistics of this important food festival, as it is expected that over 3,000 visitors will come to the days festival and over 150 to the evening Italian Sagra styled meal. The event will be held on Saturday 8th April at the newly refurbished and there will be up to thirty local food producers and traders in the Lady Elizabeth Wing  during the day as well as street food traders and several local charities with stands in the outer courtyard. Festivaldelgusto at Gusto Italia

Festivaldelgusto are very pleased to be one of the participants with Slow Food Anglia at the prestigious Italian food and drink event, the   Gusto Italia  which is held on November 7th and 8th at the Sheraton Hotel, Park Lane in central London. As part of our ongoing commitment to our friends and clients in Italy we are attending the event to build on the very close links we now have with Sicilian and mainland Italian olive oil producers, chefs and artisan food businesses. We will also strengthen our ties that we now have built up with Olivaverde, Slow Food Anglia, Slow Food Sicilia and Slow Food groups in Italy. Carmelo Carnevale the Sicilian chef who is responsible for organising Gusto Italia has personally invited Slow Food Anglia members and they have included us in their stand at the event. Carmelo came to Norwich to take part in our joint Festivaldelgusto and Slow Food Anglia festival we held there in August and he also met with our partners at Olivaverde at that even...

The Gaia Foundation Malta

On a recent trip to Malta we finally managed to visit the Gaia Foundation  and meet some of the inspirational people who are part of this exciting environmental project set up in 1994.  They are a non profit and non Governmental organisation and belongs to the Global Ecovillage Network, is a member of the Worldwatch Institute and part of the world wide Gaia Movement. The Foundation is based in the Elysium coastal site which is located in the Gwajn Tuffieha  area of the Maltese islands and also very close to the very popular Golden bay which makes up part of this beautiful coastline. While visiting the Foundation we visited the nearby olive groves, where there are olive trees of Carolea, Frantoio, Cipressino, Leccino and some lesser know varieties of Maltese olive. We hope to be able to arrange tastings in both London and Norwich later in the year of this very rare and special extra virgin olive oil. Durante il nostro ultimo viaggio a Malta siamo finalmente riusciti a v...

Festivaldelgusto with Olivaverde

Festivaldelgusto will be working closely with the olive oil group Olivaverde at the new and exciting Breks Food festival in Norfolk this September. Both groups have been involved with food, drink and lifestyle festivals in London and the east of England for many years and we are looking forward to our joint cooperating with the new Breks Food festival to be held at the Fire Pit near Swaffham in September which is being held in conjunction with the annual Slow Food festival that has been held at the Fire Pit Camp over the past three years. One of the main aims of both Festivaldelgusto and Olivaverde is to be involved with local communities and events in areas in which we promote our fine artisan produced olive oils so we are very pleased to be involved with the Breks food festival for the first time. Festivaldelgusto normally are focused on events in Italy and the Mediterranean region but are pleased to be part of the Breks festival this year. The Fire Pit Camp...

Festivaldelgusto events in the UK

The plans for the second Festivaldelgusto that is being held in Senigallia, Italy this September and also the planned Festival in Malta in co operation with  Malta Sunripe  are well advanced and we are pleased that as well as these two exciting events we are now working closely with  Olivaverde  and Slow Food in England to hold several small promotional events in London and the south east of England this summer and autumn. The UK based events will take place at venues mainly located in London but we hope to also hold one promotional event at the famous and iconic Forum  building in the city of Norwich in East Anglia. We recently visited the exciting new venue,  Maida Hill Place   in west London and we will now be holding two tasting and promotional events at this great new arts and food centre on 21st August, one to be held on a lunchtime and another slightly larger event in the early evening later that same month. Maida Hill Place was originally a ...

Olive oils schools in the Mediterranean

Festivaldelgusto along with their partner  Olivaverde  are always interested in promoting small food, wine and olive oil producers from the Mediterranean region and are pleased that in 2014 we are launching a series of dedicated olive oil schools in Italy and the Islands of Malta and Gozo. The "schools" will include workshops where there will be an olive oil producer teaching clients about all the stages of  the cultivation and production of fine extra, from the harvesting of the olives right through to the bottling and marketing of the oils. Other classes will include talks and demonstrations by actual olive oil producers and tasting experts where our clients will learn the techniques of tasting olive oils from different regions of Italy and also from the Island of Malta. Clients will also visit the olive groves and mills where the olive oils we feature are produced to see how the different olive oils are made, where possible all the olive oils used and promoted in our...

Slow Food supporters of Festivaldelgusto

As well the many small producers and food related businesses taking part in the first Festivaldelgusto  we are also pleased to have the support of other interested groups and organisations including two very proactive and well known Slow Food groups from the UK,  Slow Food Norwich  and  Slow Food London Slow Food London currently is the only campaigning Slow Food body in the UK and actively responds to every European and national consultation on food and agriculture. Slow Food Norwich also campaigns for good local foods and much of its time is spent in promoting small local producers and also retailers in north Norfolk but it is hoped that a much larger area to include much of East Anglia will be covered by this very proactive group in 2014. Slow Food London has recently embarked on a series of new initiatives with a busy schedule of events, talks and projects in and around the London area, these include a new accreditation scheme for outstanding food businesses, a...

Festival del Gusto in Senigallia this September

The Festival del Gusto events are primarily a celebration of small ethical producers of food, wine and olive oil producers in Italy, Malta and also the UK. These events aim to bring together producers, consumers and also trade representatives in an informal atmosphere to network and learn more about the produce that is available from them.  The initial Festival on September 14th to be held at the Locanda Strada della Marina  near the Adriatic resort of Senigallia will be a unique occasion to meet small artisan producers from the Le Marche region of eastern Italy and to taste some typical food, wine and olive oil from this very beautiful and unspoilt part of Italy. The Senigallia Festival will be a "taster event" and will be the first of a series of similar events to be held in Italy, Malta and the UK in 2014. Mezza Campagna Organic Market in Senigallia, Italy

Festival del gusto is all about getting small artisan Italian organic and biodynamic producers together to hold tastings, workshops and talks in a convivial setting and atmosphere, which also allows for some socialising at the same time as well. The ethos of Festival del Gusto means that we also spend time on promoting and marketing the same artisan producers both in Italy and in the UK, through events, festivals and markets. So we are pleased that our good friend and associate Andrea Tomassetti has now been instrumental in the setting up of a new type of market in the beautiful Adriatic resort of Senigallia in the Le Marche region of Italy. The market will focus on organic food, including olive oils, natural products, fruits and vegetables, marmalades and preserves, and will be open to all small organic local Marche producers who wish to take part. Link to their  Facebook Page The first of these innovative organic markets is to be held this Saturday just outside of the centro s...
